GRMN 4510

Special Topics in German Studies
Credit Hours:
3.0

GRMN 4510 is a special topics course that offers a unique look at German culture and language. The course changes from year to year. The course will not be offered for Spring 2023, but you can see what a class is like in the course description below.

In the beginning, there is always the blank page. And it is in our hands to fill it with life. This course focuses on the question of the artistic process. German filmmaker İlker Çatak shows and talks about his work and about how one manages to find one's own voice as an artist, but also as a human being. We will look at short stories, short films, screenplays, and feature films. Examples from other filmmakers will be used, recent German films, as well as influences from American and French cinema and literature. Students will plan and realize their own artistic projects at the end of the course. Taught in German.
