Internship Opportunities in Germany
AmCham Internship (American Chamber of Commerce)
Background: Mr. Stower is a UGA alumnus who deeply enjoyed his study abroad experience. He founded BridgehouseLaw in Atlanta. The AmCham internship program was his initiative The Southeast Representative for AmCham at BridgehouseLaw is Dr. Rückel. Participating universities include Emory, GA State, and GA Tech.

Majors/Minors:Open to all German minors and majors, including graduate students. Business, finance, pre-law and pre-pharmacy students are preferred. Students should apply during their third year.

Remuneration:650 Euro/month; company might also accommodation.

- By Mid-February: Offer made to you directly by company. Accept or decline offer within one week.

Halle Foundation Fellowship
Background: Fully funded fellowships in most career fields with excellent placement record for UGA students. In 2011, five Halle Fellows came from our department.

Majors/Minors: Open to all German minors and majors. Students with a strong interest and previous experience in the renewable energy field will be given preference.
Length: 10 weeks (summer)
Financial Benefits and Services: Transatlantic airfare (up to $ 1200), living and housing stipend (at least $ 975/month), travel stipend for transportation in Germany, health and accident insurance, various seminars before and after program.

German-American Chamber of Commerce (GACC), Atlanta, Internship
Background:At least one paid internship for each summer for a UGA German major (preferably majoring in business). Our department provides an additional stipend.

Requirements:At least GRMN 3010 or equivalent; minimum GPA of 3.0.
Length: about 6 weeks
Remuneration: from GACC: $500/month and from department the Kicklighter Chamber of Commerce Internship (KICCS) worth $750.

Steuben-Schurz-Society (SSG)
Background:SSG is very well-connected non-profit placement agency in Frankfurt.

Requirements:At least GRMN 3010 or equivalent; minimum GPA of 3.0.

Application Process and timeline:
Applications for summer are best submitted by late fall or early winter to allow enough lead time for optimal placement.
Chances for successful placement are very good.

Volunteer Germany (Amity Institute)
Background:These are paid volunteer positions in Germany. They are ideal for students who are taking a gap year or gap semester, or who are graduating. This kind of international work experience can be very valuable in making informed decisions about a career and/or graduate school.

Majors/Minors:Open to everyone, regardless of citizenship.
Placement: Work in education, medical and custodial care, children and youth facilities, environmental maintenance and support.
Length: 6 or to 12 months, up to 24 months.
Fee: about $ 900. Amity is a non-profit organization. The fee is used to provide very personalized and effective assistance in placement and to help you get the work visa.
Remuneration: Free room and board; major medical and accident insurance; paid vacation days. Stipend from 165 Euro/month.
