Elena Krasnostchekova is an authority on the 19th-century Russian novel and the prose of the 1920s. She is the author of more than 100 scholarly articles that have appeared in Russia, the US, and Europe, and she actively participates in national and international conferences. Her most recent book, I. A. Goncharov's Creative World , has been very positively received by Slavists here and abroad. Currently she is working on a project titled The Bildungsroman on Russian Soil , in which she examines works by Karamzin, Pushkin, Gogol', Turgenev, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky.
