GRMN 3120

German Courtly Literature
Credit Hours:
3

In this course we read, interpret, and work creatively with some of the classic texts in medieval German literature: heroic epic, Arthurian romance, and the poetry of Minnesang. Explores the deep origins of modern notions of heroism and romantic love in an era that was both unimaginably violent and sexist, as well as deeply convinced that there must be a better way to live and love. Taught in German.

Satisfies Core Area IV (World Languages and Culture or Humanities and the Arts) and the Franklin College Literature requirement.
