The Department of Germanic & Slavic Studies needs your support!

We are proud to offer our students quality education in German and Russian language, literature, and culture. However, annual funding cuts and rising operating costs make it increasingly difficult to maintain the dynamic nature of our program. Plus, we want to do more for our students. Therefore, we ask for your support so that we are able to:

. sponsor undergraduate and graduate student research in the United States or abroad;
. support student travel to study in Germany or Russia in year-long or summer study abroad programs;
. provide additional internship opportunities, such as the two summer internships we already sponsor in the German-American Chamber of Commerce;
. support additional forms of qualification, such as internationally recognized examinations offered by the Goethe-Institut;
. invite visiting speakers and authors to enhance the academic curriculum;
.offer department-sponsored events, such as the recent Günter Grass exhibition or the annual public presentation of the Senior Project each Spring semester;
. provide graduate student fellowships that would allow us to attract the best students to our program.

Your support will help not only to ensure that the Department of Germanic & Slavic Languages remains a vibrant place, but that it grows stronger each year. We thank you!

The Germanic and Slavic Studies Fund

The Germanic and Slavic Languages Fund covers the cost of many events in the department that promote language learning and the intellectual exchange of ideas among faculty, students, and members of the larger academic community. Events sponsored by the fund include the Fall Social, the Graduate Student Coffee Hour, German and Russian Majors' meetings, receptions for visiting scholars, and the annual Graduation Luncheon and Awards Ceremony. It also supports other program initiatives, such as furnishing the new student lounge/study area and mentoring activities.

The fund exists thanks to donations from individuals. All gifts are tax deductible. If you would like to help support our department, you may contribute in one of the following ways:
